"It is after all,
not the few great libraries, but the thousand small ones, that may do most for the people."

--Lutie Stearns, Library Journal, 1899

Wisconsin Small Libraries Section (WISL)

(New photos at right!) At the recent Rally for Libraries in Madison on March 22, there were about 200 people who marched in support of libraries.  They were thrilled to join in the rally in spite of the weather.  Organizers of the event include Pam Bosben, Cross Plains Director; Susan Santner, Oregon Director; and Diana Skalitzky, Marshall Director.

The purpose of WISL is to promote the common interests, activities, administration and services of all small libraries. WISL defines a small library as any public or non-public library staffed with 4 FTEs or less and serving a population less than 6,000, but we are happy to have any WLA member join our group. We learn best from each other.
