The Wisconsin Distinguished Document Award

The Wisconsin Distinguished Document Award is presented each spring to a Wisconsin state or local government document published during  the preceding year that, among other criteria, contributes significantly to the expansion of knowledge; provides inspiration and pleasure to an identifiable readership; contributes to public understanding of government agencies; and is distinguished by the clarity of its presentation, its typography and design, and its overall appeal. The winner and four honorable mentions are nominated for the ALA Government Document Round Table's "Notable Documents List," which appears in the May 15 Library Journal each year.

PUB-SS-989 2004

"This handbook contains general guidance for landowners interested in improving the health of their wetlands. It discusses conservation, management, and restoration techniques that will improve drained, ditched, or otherwise degraded wetlands, and provides a range of activities that can greatly improve the values and functions of our wetland resources. …This revised edition of the Wetland Restoration Handbook provides considerably more information to landowners interested in wetland restoration than the first edition. We have expanded the chapters that explain restoration techniques, describe control strategies for invasive plants in-depth, and have included a new chapter on post-restoration site management. Where available, we have incorporated new ideas and techniques that have surfaced since the first edition was written." -Preface.
