How to Get Involved

There are plenty of opportunities to make professional contacts, develop skills that can enhance your career, and just have a great time! Join a WLA or unit committee, run for elected office, or help out at a conference or workshop. Or, if you're not sure which position is right for you, tell us what your special interests or skills are. One way to do this is to fill out a People Pool form (PDF).

The names of interested members are provided to leaders in charge of finding candidates for elected and appointed positions. The WLA Nominations Committee usually meets in early summer to select candidates for the WLA and WLA Foundation boards. The WLA Appointments Committee, chaired by the President-elect, works throughout the summer to fill vacancies on WLA Committees. Likewise, WLA units usually begin their search for candidates in late spring. However, we are looking for good people year-round, so don't hesitate to let us know if you're interested.
