WLA Foundation Silent Auction -- IM BIDDING
This year, WLA members unable to attend the conference will still be able to participate in the Silent Auction by bidding on items with instant messaging (IM).
IM bids will be accepted from 11-1 on Thursday, November 2nd.
How will this work?
From 11-1 on Thursday, November 2nd, you'll be able to place a bid by
sending an instant message (IM), using either AOL, MSN, or Yahoo Messengers.
The screenname for all of the services is: wlafauction
If you don't already have an account with one of these IM providers, you can also send an IM from the box below:
(This box may not appear on all computers or browsers. If it doesn't
work for you, please set up and/or use a free, web-based MSN, Yahoo!,
or AIM
Express.)
When you send your IM, the person staffing the auction will tell you
what the current bid is on the item you are interested in, and then
you can place your bid.
How do I know what
I want to bid on if I'm not there?
Thanks to Lisa Strand, there is an up-to-date
list of auction items. There are pictures of many items, or you can
click on the "complete list" link at the top to see the complete
list.
How will I pay and
get my item?
If you are the winning bidder, you'll receive an invoice from WLA for
the amount of your bid. WLA will ship your item through Delivery (if
possible) or by mail.
Why would I want to do this?
To help out the Campaign for Wisconsin Libraries, and to get fabulous
stuff!
The Disclaimer
WLAF reserves the right to determine the final winning bids based on bids
received in person at the WLA Conference or via instant messaging from
11-1 on Thursday. The auction closes at 3:30 on Thursday, so there will
be a chance that an in-person bid could come in after the IM bids have
been closed.
