Depending on your available time and situation in your community, you may choose to send a news release announcing this event in your local paper(s). Use this news release or create your own. Your final release should be double spaced.

[Name of library] To Host Library Issues Listening Session


The [name of library] will host a Library Listening Session with area candidates for the state legislature on [insert date, time, place]. The purpose of the listening session is to give local library users a chance to discuss the value of library service and the challenges of meeting the increased demand for these services.

According to [listening session coordinator], "The importance of library service to the quality of life in this state is an issue that cannot be ignored in an election year. We know that library users tend to be voters, and this forum gives them a chance to meet face-to-face with legislative candidates and share their concerns."
