WAPL Conference Roundup
Spring is here, and with spring comes the WAPL conference, this year in lovely Eau Claire.
MATS is sponsoring 4 programs at WAPL. Come check them out!
Thursday, May 3, from 2-3pm, we have "Online Matchmaking: Taking Readers' Advisory to the Next Level" with Cheryl Becker and Jane Jorgensen, who will share the story of a project that's a blend of personal touch and high tech.
On Friday, May 4, from 9-10:15am we have 2 concurrent sessions: "Social Networking Sites" by Cheryl Becker and Shawn Brommer, cosponsored by YSS; and "Wiretapping the Internet" by Bob Bocher.
"Social Networking Sites" will be an introduction to the most popular destinations on the net, with special emphasis on what they mean to the people that use them, why libraries should provide both access and safety education, and why online social networks are here to stay.
"Wiretapping the Internet: Coming Soon to your Library's Internet Provider" will feature the newest developments in federal efforts to track Internet use, and other "hot" topics like Net Neutrality.
Finally, at 10:30 on Friday there's the technology roundup "Have You Heard About," with Beth Carpenter, Tasha Saecker, Joy Schwarz and Nichole Fromm. Come along as they share new technology trends and services, in libraries and beyond.
See you in Eau Claire!
