2010 WLA Conference Programs:

Resource Sharing Among Wisconsin Public Libraries

A panel, convened by the Resource Sharing Round Table, discussed how the 17 public library systems in Wisconsin organize and manage resource sharing activities. Maureen Welch of Indianhead Federated Library System, Charles Clemence of the Winding Rivers Library System, Bob Shaw of WiLS and Martha Farley Berninger and Christine Barth of RL&LL described how their organizations manage resource sharing.

    WISCAT 2010: a Year of Significant Change

Resources for Libraries & Lifelong Learning (RL&LL) staff implemented some major changes in WISCAT resource sharing this year to improve service and efficiency.   These included expanding out of state interlibrary loan trading partners, improving ISO connections, streamlining union/virtual catalogs interaction, updating software, and automating workflow.  During this session, David Sleasman, Team Leader for Resource Sharing Technology, Reference and Loan Library, will provide and update and gather audience input, comments, and ideas for continued improvement.


2009 WLA Conference Program:
The Resource Sharing Round Table, a unit of WLA, sponsored three well-attended programs at WLA's annual conference in Appleton in October.

Dorothea Salo, digital repository librarian at UW-Madison, provided a fascinating look at the public digital domain in a talk entitled Canoe the Open Content Rapids.

Peter Hamon, past president of WLA, kept the audience amused with his talk Resource Sharing: Past, Present and Future.

Finally Eric Robinson (WiLS), Heather Weltin (UW-Madison), Beth Price (Madison Public Library), Sarah Hartman (Middleton Public Library), and Lee Konrad (UW-Madison Memorial Library) discussed trends in collaboration between interlibrary loan and collection development.
