Library Learning Center, University of Wisconsin-Stout, Menomonie, WI
Monday, July 13, 1998, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

You are invited to attend "What's the DEAL?: Distance Education in Academic Libraries," a dynamic one-day workshop sponsored by the Wisconsin Association of Academic Librarians. The workshop will include a live demonstration of two electronically linked distance education classrooms on the UW-Stout campus. The speakers listed below will address issues related to distance education and academic libraries, such as:

  • What philosophies, principles, or models of service prevail?
  • What are instructional departments' expectations regarding library services?
  • How are facilities and services planned, funded, administered, staffed, marketed, and publicized?
  • What is the effect on cooperative collection development, resource sharing, and reciprocal borrowing?
  • And, how do academic libraries provide information and support services such as bibliographic instruction, reference service, current awareness services, document delivery, and online search services?
Opportunities for questions and discussion will be available throughout the day.
