Friday, May 8

5-7 pm: Evening buffet in the Wilderness 4, 5 & 6 rooms with a cash bar.  The buffet is an additional charge to the registration fee of $29.00.
7-8 pm:  Barry Trott The Appealing Challenges and Opportunities for Reader’s Advisory in the Next Quarter Century
8-9:30 pm:  Reading Trivia:  At Last, I Am No Longer a Geek!  Three teams of four librarians go head to head in a trivia contest.  Team leaders are Jessica Moyer, Kaite Stover, Barry Trott.  Points are awarded to audience members smarter than the panelists!  Prizes--geeks don't need no stinkin' prizes!
9:30-??  Quiet time for reading (or the bar is still open)

Speaker Information & Bios

Adult Reading Round Table presenters:  ARRT has pledged a full program of presentations by its members

Jessica E. Moyer is a doctoral student at the University of Minnesota in Adolescent Literacy Education, where she studies teens and leisure reading.  Jessica is a regular reviewer of mysteries, audiobooks, and reference books for Booklist and is the author of Research Based Readers' Advisory, ALA Editions, 2008.    Her favorite audiobook narrators are Simon Vance (reading the Temeraire series), Barbara Rosenblat (reading any mystery), and Gerald Doyle (reading the Septimus Heap series).  Jessica loves to read Science Fiction, especially anything by David Weber.

Becky Spratford is a Readers’ Advisor at the Berwyn (IL) Public Library.  She is the co-author of The Horror Readers' Advisory: The Librarian's Guide to Vampires, Killer Tomatoes, and Haunted Houses (ALA, 2004), and is currently at work on a second edition of this title.  When she is not scaring herself with all of those horror books, Becky is also an adjunct faculty member at Dominican University’s Graduate School of Library and Information Science where she teaches the Readers’ Advisory course.  Becky serves on the ARRT Steering Committee, writes Read Alike articles for NoveList and is the author of the blog RA for ALL (http:.//raforall.blogspot.com).

Kaite Mediatore Stover is the Head of Readers' Services for The Kansas City Public Library. She writes the "She Reads" column and reviews audiobooks for Booklist. Kaite is also a contributing writer for NoveList. Kaite has published three articles for RUSQ's Readers' Advisory column, most recently on readers' advisory and social networking. She appears monthly on KCUR's "Book Doctors" show and was named a Mover & Shaker in 2003 by Library Journal. She Twitters, Facebooks, blogs, and Daily Mugshots under the webalias MarianLiberryan. She is also part owner of Ebbsfleet United. They are not doing well this season.

Barry Trott is the Adult Services Director at the Williamsburg Regional Library in Virginia.  He is also a self-employed musician specializing in the historical music of America.  Barry is editor of the Libraries Unlimited Read On series and the author of Read On...Crime Fiction: Reading Lists for Every Taste as well as co-author of Partnering with Purpose: A Guide to Strategic Partnership Development for Libraries and Other Organizations with Janet L. Crowther. 

Rebecca Vnuk is currently the Adult Services Director for the Glen Ellyn Public Library in IL.  A fiction reviewer for Library Journal, she authored their Collection Development feature on Chick Lit in 2005.  She has presented nationally on different RA topics such as Chick Lit, RA Web Sites, and more.  She is the 2007-2009 Chairperson of the Adult Reading Round Table, and was named 2008 Fiction Reviewer of the Year for Library Journal.  She has two reference books on Women’s Fiction coming out this spring for Libraries Unlimited:  Read On – Women’s Fiction; and Women’s Fiction Authors: A Research Guide.
