Volunteer to be a WeLead Mentor!
WLA is continually searching for mentors to pair with the WeLead “emerging” librarians for this rewarding WLA program. Please complete the online application if you are interested in becoming a mentor. Applications for the 2013-2014 class are due on July 31, 2012. Mentors will be assigned protégés in October 2012 and must be available for an orientation session in December 2012. Criteria for mentors include the following:
- Must be willing to make a 2-year commitment to the initiative
- Must be able to attend the mentor training, the WLA Conference, and a spring division conference (if applicable).
- Must be willing to meet and communicate with protégés on a regular basis; e.g., attend conferences with their protégés as required by the WeLead initiative.
- Have at least 5 years of experience working in the library field.
- Be a current WLA member and retain membership during the 2-year initiative.
